Sedan Crater, Nuclear crater in Nevada
Sedan Crater is a large nuclear crater at the Nevada Test Site.
It was created on July 6, 1962 as part of Operation Plowshare program to investigate the use of nuclear weapons for peaceful purposes.
The Sedan Crater has become a tourist attraction and is one of the few places where the public can visit a nuclear test site.
Visitors can view the crater from a designated observation deck.
It's the largest man-made crater in the United States, measuring 320 feet deep and 1,280 feet in diameter.
