Henderson

Henderson spreads across desert land southeast of Las Vegas, combining residential areas with shopping districts and recreation zones. The layout follows wide roads lined with low buildings, framed by mountain ranges on multiple sides.

The town began in 1941 to house workers from a magnesium plant that supplied material for wartime aircraft. After the conflict ended, it gradually shifted into a residential community that expanded steadily over the following decades.

Residents gather in neighborhood parks for outdoor sports and social events throughout most of the year. The open-air amphitheater draws families who bring blankets and chairs to watch evening performances under the desert sky.

Trails wind through the surrounding hills and mountains, accessible from trailheads scattered across different neighborhoods. Summer heat builds early in the day, so outdoor activities work best in early morning or late afternoon.

Old factory structures from the wartime years still stand in parts of the older district, now converted into commercial spaces. Street names throughout the area reflect the industrial origins, reminding visitors of the town's unexpected beginnings.
