Ussel, Administrative center in Corrèze, France
Situated at an elevation of 588 meters between the valleys of Diège and Sarsonne rivers, Ussel extends across 150 square kilometers of central France.
During the Hundred Years War in February 1371, the military commander Bertrand du Guesclin led a siege against the fortified settlement of Ussel.
The Museum of Ussel exhibits regional artifacts, agricultural implements, and historical prints that document the traditions of this Corrèze community through centuries.
The A89 highway serves Ussel with two dedicated exits, while the local train station connects the town to major cities like Clermont-Ferrand and Bordeaux.
The Soubise Tower, constructed during the 14th and 15th centuries, stands as a reminder of the medieval fortifications that once protected this highland settlement.
