The castle served as the center of power for the Viscounty of Turenne, controlling territories between the regions of Lot and Corrèze during medieval times.
The castle grounds host the Musicales de Turenne concert series every Thursday in July and August, featuring performances in the historical setting.
Visitors should park at the tourism office and allow 15 minutes to walk up to the castle, which opens daily from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
The castle maintains a hanging garden where the Kiosque Gourmand serves refreshments from April through October with views over the countryside.
