Château de Vallerois-le-Bois

Château de Vallerois-le-Bois is a medieval fortified residence featuring a thick stone dungeon from the 15th century and a Renaissance spiral staircase enclosed in a tower. A gatehouse with drawbridge defends the main building, creating layers of protection typical of medieval castle design.

The castle originated in the 12th century under the Cicon family and gained fortification rights in 1426 under Philip the Good's authority. Over time, it underwent expansions and modifications to meet changing needs for defense and residence.

The castle's name reflects the families who inhabited it over centuries, and its careful restoration has preserved important examples of French medieval architecture. Visitors can observe how the building has been brought back to life while respecting its original character and design.
