Château de Montépilloy, Medieval castle in Montépilloy, France
The castle features a 35-meter-high dungeon tower visible from several kilometers, situated on a strategic hilltop at 133.5 meters above sea level.
Joan of Arc and Charles VII visited the castle on August 15, 1429, during one of her final military operations before the Battle of Montépilloy.
The castle represents Gothic military architecture with fortified gates and defensive walls designed to control the ancient route from Crépy-en-Valois to Senlis.
Visitors can explore the castle from June to September with guided tours offered three times daily during weekends and Mondays in July and August.
Archaeological excavations in 2014 and 2015 revealed multiple construction phases, including an earlier castle named Mons Agibodini from the 13th century.
