Amanty Airdrome

Amanty Airdrome was an airfield in Lorraine that spread across farmland northwest of the village, with multiple hangars and buildings constructed during World War I. After 1919, the land returned to agricultural use, though today only the memorial remains to mark its military aviation past.

The airfield was established in 1917 and initially served French squadrons before shifting to become a base for American Aero Squadrons in 1918. This transition reflected the growing American air operations during that period.

The memorial at this location bears inscriptions honoring American service members and pilots who died during World War I. Visitors can find the names and stories of these aviators preserved there.
