Salt Lake Masonic Temple, Masonic temple in Salt Lake City, United States
The Salt Lake Masonic Temple is a Masonic temple in Salt Lake City featuring Egyptian Revival architecture with stone walls. The building contains multiple lodge rooms, halls, lounges, a banquet area, and an auditorium.
The temple was founded in 1927 after the local Masonic community needed more space for their meetings. The new building replaced a smaller structure and reflects the growth of the organization in the city.
The building displays Masonic symbols throughout its spaces, with three entrances representing the three Lights of a Masonic Lodge. These visual elements are woven into the architecture and shape how the space feels when you move through it.
The temple serves as headquarters for Utah Masonic organizations and hosts five Salt Lake City Lodges along with various chapters of the Ancient Scottish Rite. Visitors should check in advance about access, as it functions as an active meeting space.
Inside, a ceremonial staircase passes by sphinxes and connects different levels of the building in a striking way. At the end of this staircase sits a funerary ramp crowned by a scarab and surrounded by acacia trees.
