The Saint-Sulpice Library stands at 1700 Saint Denis Street, featuring marble staircases and stained glass windows created by Henri Perdriau.
The Sulpician order constructed the library in 1914 to provide improved reading selections from their collections and those of Université Laval à Montréal.
The library served as a center for literary societies, artists, speakers, and musicians, establishing itself as a primary French-language research institution.
The five-floor building contains concrete, brick, and granite materials, with separate sections featuring flat and glass-pitched roofs.
Aegidius Fauteux, the first librarian, gathered thousands of works between 1913 and 1916, including maps, portraits, medals, and rare books.
