Ville-Marie

Ville-Marie encompasses downtown Montreal, Old Montreal, Mount Royal Park, and several cultural neighborhoods across a large urban landscape. The district combines historic areas with modern business sections and green spaces into a layered urban fabric.

The district gained its official name in 2002 following Montreal's administrative restructuring, which reshaped local governance and community organization. This reorganization redefined the boundaries and roles of several previously separate areas.

McGill and Concordia universities maintain their main campuses alongside numerous museums, theaters, and galleries throughout the area. This blend of educational and creative spaces shapes daily life and makes the district a center for learning and cultural exchange.
