The park began in the 1980s through private investment backed by federal and provincial funding. Government took over operations in the 1990s, though the facility eventually closed for good in 2017.
Families came here regularly to spend summers together, and the park hosted community celebrations and gatherings. It became woven into how locals thought about warm-weather fun for an entire generation.
The park opened seasonally from July through September when the weather was warmest. Group rates were available, and leashed pets were allowed throughout the grounds.
