Natur- und Tierpark Goldau, Zoo and nature park in Goldau, Switzerland.
Natur- und Tierpark Goldau is a 42-hectare site with around 100 European animal species in enclosures and free-range areas, situated on the grounds of a historic landslide. The different zones are designed to recreate natural habitats that visitors explore on foot.
The park was founded in 1925, after a major landslide in 1806 had reshaped the landscape. What began as a simple animal enclosure gradually developed into a place focused on nature conservation and education.
The park displays European animal species in natural settings that visitors walk through directly. The way animals live here gives a real sense of how they would behave in the wild.
The park is open daily and offers paths suitable for different walking speeds, with easy access from Arth-Goldau train station. There are resting areas and sections where you can view animals up close, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
Visitors can feed freely roaming sika deer and mouflons in designated areas, offering a rare direct experience with these wild species. These free-range zones show how the 1806 landslide has shaped the way animals are kept here today.
