Yanji

Yanji is a city nestled in foothills with a flat urban center surrounded by mountains, divided into six subdistricts and four towns. The inner zones are densely developed while the outer areas transition gradually into rural spaces.

The city emerged in the 1700s when the Qing dynasty encouraged settlers to colonize Manchuria through organized migration programs. This population movement fundamentally shaped the region's cultural and demographic character.
