Boise Airport, International airport in Ada County, Idaho, United States.
Boise Airport is a commercial aerodrome in Ada County, Idaho, serving the capital city and its surrounding region. The terminal building features two concourses housing a total of 23 gates, from which nine airlines operate their scheduled services.
The site emerged from land purchases made in 1936 and later became a training base for bomber crews of the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. After the war ended, the facility transitioned to civilian operations and has served scheduled passenger traffic ever since.
The airport takes its name from Boise, Idaho's capital, a word thought to come from French fur trappers. Inside the public areas, travelers find works by local artists and photographs of surrounding mountain ranges that offer a first impression of the region.
The aerodrome sits roughly three miles south of downtown Boise and can be reached by a direct road link. The arrivals area offers four baggage belts, and within the departure halls travelers find several dining options along with car rental counters.
The National Interagency Fire Center maintains its base at the airport, coordinating wildland firefighting efforts across the country. From here, tanker aircraft and response teams are dispatched to affected regions during fire season.
