Canyon Ferry Lake

Canyon Ferry Lake is a reservoir near Helena that spans a large surface with an extensive shoreline framed by mountain ranges. The body of water serves as a major recreation destination with boat launches, campgrounds, and day use areas positioned along its shore.

The lake came into being in 1954 following the construction of Canyon Ferry Dam on the Missouri River. A former settlement disappeared beneath the reservoir's waters with its creation.
