Pactola Lake, Reservoir in South Dakota
Pactola Lake is the largest reservoir in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
The lake was formed by the construction of Pactola Dam, which was completed in 1956.
Pactola Lake is a significant recreation spot, offering activities such as fishing, boating, camping and diving.
There are numerous facilities available including campsites, picnic areas, boat ramp and a marina.
Strangely enough, the lake is named after the city of Pactola, which was submerged when the dam was built.
