High Level Bridge, Multi-level bridge in Edmonton, Canada

The High Level Bridge spans the North Saskatchewan River with steel trusses supported by concrete piers, extending 157 feet above the water level.

The bridge, constructed by John Gunn and Sons of Winnipeg, opened in 1913 to connect Edmonton with Strathcona before both communities merged into one city.

The bridge features 60,000 LED lights installed through the Light the Bridge campaign, illuminating the structure during special events and celebrations throughout the year.

The lower deck currently allows one-way southbound traffic, while vehicles exceeding the height restriction of 3.2 meters cannot cross the bridge.

From 1980 to 2009, the bridge housed the Great Divide Waterfall, releasing 50,000 liters of water per minute into the river during summer events.
