Gangkhar Puensum, Unspoiled summit in Bhutan
Gangkhar Puensum is considered the highest unclimbed mountain in the world.
Its height was first measured in 1922 but remains off-limits for climbers since 2003.
The mountain holds a great spiritual significance to local Bhutanese culture.
While climbing is prohibited, trekking around the base can offer breathtaking views.
Mistaken overestimations of its height in the past led to maps showing phantom mountains.
