Prague 9, Administrative district in northeastern Prague, Czech Republic
Prague 9 is an administrative district in northeastern Prague composed of seven neighborhoods including Vysocany, Liben, Prosek, Strizkov, Hrdlorezy, Hloubetin, and Malesice. These areas form a large residential region with mixed residential and commercial development.
The district was established in 1990 following a major urban reorganization that came after the fall of communism. This transformation changed the formerly industrial zone into a modern residential area.
The area is home to the O2 Arena, a major venue near Vysocany where concerts and sports events take place throughout the year. The space draws locals and visitors who come to experience live entertainment and performances.
The district is well connected through metro line B, multiple tram routes, and bus services linking it to central Prague. This good transportation access makes it easy to move between neighborhoods and reach the city center.
The area experienced enormous population growth since the late 1800s, transforming from a small area into one of Prague's most densely populated districts. This growth shows how rapidly the city expanded during industrialization and after the communist era.
