Tidore Islands

Tidore Islands City extends across multiple islands including Tidore, Mare, Maitara, and Filonga, with Mount Kie Matubu rising 1,730 meters above sea level.

The Portuguese established their presence in 1521, constructing a fort in 1578 after destroying the original capital of the spice-trading sultanate.

The local population maintains traditional practices through ceremonies, metalworking skills, and agricultural techniques passed down through generations since the 15th century.

The city administration manages eight districts across 1,703 square kilometers, providing services to approximately 118,000 residents through multiple health centers and educational facilities.

The northern section contains a caldera named Sabale, while the southern region features an extinct volcanic peak surrounded by fertile agricultural lands.
