Mont Orgueil, Medieval castle and history museum in Saint Martin, Jersey

The granite fortress overlooks Gorey Harbour from its elevated position, featuring multiple levels connected by stone staircases and defensive walls.

Built in 1204 after Jersey came under English crown control, Mont Orgueil served as the primary defense against French invasions for over four centuries.

The Medieval Great Hall displays commissioned artworks including 'The Queen' and 'Equanimity', representing Jersey's connection to the British monarchy.

The castle operates daily from March to October between 10:00 and 18:00, with reduced winter hours from November through February.

A medieval wheel of urine remains among the castle artifacts, demonstrating medical diagnosis methods from the Middle Ages.
