Hangar-7, Exhibition center near Salzburg Airport, Austria
Hangar-7 is an exhibition center made of glass and steel beside Salzburg Airport with a 40-meter-wide entrance door. The space contains roughly 75,000 square meters of glass surfaces that allow natural light to fill the interior throughout the day.
The facility opened in 2003 and was built by Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz to house the Flying Bulls aircraft collection and Formula One vehicles. The project grew from the founder's personal passion for aviation and motorsport.
The restaurant Ikarus inside the building hosts a rotating selection of international chefs each month, bringing different culinary traditions to the space. Visitors can watch how various cooking approaches and techniques come together in a contemporary setting.
The center opens Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 10 PM and Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM, with no entrance fee required. It sits close to the airport, making it convenient to visit between flights or as a quick stop.
The collection includes fully operational historical aircraft that take off regularly for demonstration flights from the nearby airport. Visitors occasionally witness these restored planes actually flying through the sky.
