Schloss Pöggstall, Renaissance castle and legal history museum in Pöggstall, Austria.
The castle features an inner courtyard with stone spiral staircases, Renaissance portals, and an Emperor's Hall beside the Gothic Hall.
Originally constructed as a Gothic moated castle in the 13th century, the structure underwent substantial modifications during the Habsburg ownership from 1795 to 1919.
The Museum of Legal History within the castle presents exhibitions about jurisdiction and displays a suit of armor from Wilhelm of Rogendorf dated 1523.
Located at Hauptplatz 1, the castle opens Tuesday through Sunday from April to October, with guided tours available at 10:30 and 14:30.
The castle contains a circular fortification designed by Albrecht Dürer and houses the only preserved original torture chamber in Austria.
