Pyramidenkogel, Observation tower on Pyramidenkogel mountain in Carinthia, Austria.
Pyramidenkogel is an 851-meter mountain in Carinthia topped with a 100-meter tall wooden observation tower. The structure provides views across Lake Wörthersee and the surrounding Alpine terrain through multiple viewing platforms at different heights.
The first observation platform appeared on the mountain in 1950, replaced by a steel tower in 1968. The current wooden structure opened in 2013 as a modern successor to these earlier installations.
The mountain sits at the border between German-speaking and Slovenian-speaking areas, with locals from Slovenia calling it Jedvovca. This name reflects the linguistic diversity of the Alpine region and how communities on each side have their own ways of referring to the same place.
The mountain can be reached on foot from the base in roughly 30 to 45 minutes, or visitors can take a shuttle option. Multiple platforms within the tower mean visitors can choose how high they want to climb based on their comfort level.
The site features Europe's longest slide at 66 meters, making it an unexpected attraction for visitors who expect only views. Those wanting to ride must meet a minimum height of 130 centimeters.
