The Altes Rathaus spans three stories with a barrel-vaulted entrance leading to a 17th-century arcaded courtyard featuring star-decorated ground floor arcades.
Originally built as Palais Welzer in the 17th century, the structure functioned as Klagenfurt's town hall from 1737 until its relocation to Palais Rosenberg in 1918.
The facade exhibits a fresco by Josef Ferdinand Fromiller from 1739, depicting Justitia with the coats of arms of Carinthia and Klagenfurt.
The building maintains its original Renaissance architecture with a pseudorusticated ground floor, round-arched portal, and a prominent clock housed in the gable.
The first-floor balustrade incorporates diagonally arranged bricks, while lion head reliefs decorate the vases supporting the portal's ionizing capitals.
