Radstadt, Medieval town in Sankt Johann im Pongau District, Austria
Radstadt sits at an elevation of 858 meters in the Enns River valley, near the confluence with Taurach tributary at Roßbrand mountain foothills.
The settlement, first mentioned as Rastat in 1074, received its town rights in 1289 from Archbishop von Hohenegg, who granted administrative privileges to citizens.
The Gothic church from 1417 and sixteenth-century town hall demonstrate the architectural evolution of this Alpine municipality through different periods.
The municipality offers winter activities with established ski areas, while maintaining direct access to shops, restaurants, and various accommodation options.
During the German Peasants' War of 1524, local citizens defended their fortress against 5000 farmers, leading to a freedom charter grant in 1527.
