The three-story stone residence features a hipped roof and two remaining southern towers, positioned at the northeastern edge of Radstadt's center.
First mentioned in the 14th century as the seat of Chunradus de Maur, the castle underwent modifications by the Graf zu Schernberg family in the 16th century.
The building represents Austrian architectural evolution from a defensive structure to a residential manor, reflecting changes in nobility's living patterns over centuries.
The castle remains in private ownership by the Wagenbichler family and does not allow public visits to its interior or grounds.
A fire in 1865 reduced the original four defensive towers to two, permanently altering the castle's defensive configuration.
