Wagrain

Wagrain is a municipality in Salzburg situated in a high valley between the Salzach and Enns rivers. The area is divided into four cadastral districts: Hof, Hofmarkt, Schwaighof, and Vorderkleinarl.

The settlement was first recorded in 1243 as Wakrein and began as a mining area. By the early 18th century, it had become a center of Crypto-protestantism.

The Advent Market during early December showcases local craftsmanship through regional food and handmade goods. Visitors can observe how residents celebrate their traditions together in this setting.

This place is where Atomic Skis was born in 1955 when Alois Rohrmoser transformed his wheelwright workshop into ski production. The company used local timber and grew into a recognized ski maker.
