Murinsel, Footbridge and open-air theatre in Innere Stadt, Graz, Austria

The Murinsel spans across the Mur River with its steel and glass construction, forming an artificial island connected by walkways on both sides.

The structure opened in 2003 as part of Graz's designation as European Capital of Culture, representing a connection between traditional and modern architecture.

The venue presents international film classics and Austrian movies from 1928 to 2022, with expert introductions before each screening at the Open-Air-Kino events.

The facility includes a café operating Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours until 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays for evening entertainment.

When weather conditions prevent outdoor screenings in the amphitheater, events move inside to the café space without cancellation.

The most impressive bridges in the world

Bridges have connected shores, valleys and communities for centuries. This collection presents significant bridge structures from different periods and regions. From medieval stone arches to modern steel constructions, these works demonstrate the evolution of engineering. The 16th-century Rialto Bridge in Venice spans the Grand Canal with a single stone arch. The Golden Gate in San Francisco extends 2.7 kilometers, connecting the city with northern California. In Singapore, the Helix Bridge forms a pedestrian connection across Marina Bay with its double spiral structure. These constructions serve practical functions in urban transport while defining the skylines of their cities. They document technical solutions to geographic obstacles and show different approaches to bridge building across the centuries.
