Brandbergtunnel, Road tunnel in Zillertal, Austria
Brandbergtunnel is a road passage through the Zillertal region of Tyrol that links Mayrhofen-Laubichl with Brandberg. The roughly 2.1 kilometer tunnel cuts directly through Alpine rock to create a straight route across the mountain terrain.
Tauernkraftwerke AG started construction in 1976 to provide access to the Zillergründl dam building site in the Austrian Alps. The project became part of the region's water power development efforts.
