Brandbergtunnel, Road tunnel in Zillertal, Austria

The Brandbergtunnel extends through 2130 meters of Alpine rock, connecting Mayrhofen-Laubichl with Brandberg in the Zillertal region of Tyrol.

The Tauernkraftwerke AG corporation initiated construction in 1976 to provide access to the Zillergründl dam construction site in the Austrian Alps.

The tunnel represents a significant milestone in Austrian alpine engineering, demonstrating the integration of transportation infrastructure within mountain landscapes.

Travelers can bypass the Mayrhofen town center by using the tunnel to reach the opposite valley from Zillertal Road B169.

The tunnel features an exceptionally steep gradient for a road tunnel, making it a notable example of mountain infrastructure engineering.
