Stanskogel, Mountain summit in Tyrol, Austria.
Stanskogel is a mountain summit in the Lechtaler Alps that rises to about 2,757 meters and features steep rocky terrain. The peak has several hiking trails leading to the top, each offering different routes and views depending on the starting point.
The hiking paths around Stanskogel developed during the early Alpine exploration period when mountaineers first systematically mapped the Tyrolean peaks in the 19th century. This path network later enabled access to wider mountain regions and led to the establishment of mountain huts.
The summit attracts mountain walkers from Austria and Germany who seek traditional high Alpine experiences in this region. Local mountain clubs maintain the paths and huts here, creating meeting points for climbers from different areas.
The summit can be reached from St. Anton or Pettneu, with several routes available to hikers. The Leutkircher Hut at around 2,251 meters offers rest and shelter along the eastern approach.
The north face of Stanskogel connects several Alpine huts through long-distance walking routes across continuous high mountain terrain. These linking trails allow hikers to visit multiple huts over several days without losing much elevation.
