IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Applied sciences university in Krems, Austria.
IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems is a higher education institution in Krems, Lower Austria, on the banks of the Danube. The campus brings together lecture rooms, laboratories, and spaces for group work, with programmes focused on business, health sciences, and technology.
The institution was founded in 1994, shortly after Austria introduced a new law creating the Fachhochschule sector as a practical alternative to traditional universities. It was one of the first such institutions to open in the country.
Students from many different countries study side by side here, and project work often brings them into contact with local companies and organisations. This connection to the surrounding region gives daily life on campus a practical, outward-looking feel.
The campus is located in the centre of Krems and easy to reach on foot from the train station. It is most active during the academic semesters, so a visit between October and June gives the best sense of day-to-day life there.
A share of the programmes are taught entirely in English, which makes this one of the few places in Lower Austria where international students can study without speaking German. This draws a notably international group to a relatively small city.
