Neue Bielefelder Hütte, Mountain hut at 2112 meters in Hochötz, Austria
The Neue Bielefelder Hütte is a mountain refuge at 2,112 meters (6,929 feet) in the Stubai Alps in Austria. It offers lodging and meals to mountain hikers and sits at the base of Acherkogel mountain.
The refuge was built in 1953 after previous structures were destroyed by storms, wars, and avalanches. The new German Alpine Club facility replaced the original Bielefelder Hütte and has remained at this location since then.
The hut serves regional dishes like baked potatoes, Schlutzkrapfen and Kaiserschmarrn, which visitors can enjoy during their stay. These local foods are part of everyday mountain life in Tyrol and shape the experience of each guest.
The hut is accessible via several hiking routes, with the shortest path taking 10 minutes from Acherkogelbahn lift station. For longer approaches, hikers can start from Oetz or Haiming and should bring sturdy mountain boots and weatherproof clothing.
The hut is part of the Sellrain mountain hut network and serves as a starting point for visits to nearby summits like Wetterkreuzkogel and Rosskopf. This strategic position makes it possible for multi-day hiking loops through connected alpine areas.
