Mitterriegel

Mitterriegel is a mountain peak at 506 meters (1,661 feet) that sits on the border between Burgenland and Lower Austria within the Rosalia range. The slopes are covered with dense forest that extends across the surrounding landscape.

Mitterriegel forms part of the Rosalia range, which has served as a natural dividing line between Austrian regions for many centuries. This geographic role shaped the development of settlements near and around it.

The peak connects the territories of Neudörfl and Katzelsdorf, marking where two provinces meet in the eastern Alps. This border location makes the summit a point where different regional identities and landscapes come together.

Multiple marked hiking trails from both provinces lead to the summit and connect it with neighboring peaks and forest paths. The routes offer options suitable for different fitness levels, with clear orientation points along the way.

From the summit, you can see both the northern and southern sections of the Rosalia range, which are separated by the Wulka valley. This view reveals the geographic diversity and contrasting landscape features on each side of the divide.
