Burg Kropfsberg, Medieval castle ruin in Reith im Alpbachtal, Austria
The castle remains stand on a prominent ridge in the Inn Valley at 526 meters above sea level, featuring two substantial defensive towers.
Archbishop Konrad I of Salzburg established the castle in the first half of the 12th century as an administrative center for the Salzburg court.
During the 15th century, the castle served as a diplomatic venue where Tyrol and Bavaria resolved territorial disputes through negotiations.
Visitors can explore the preserved sections of the castle, including remnants of the cistern and gothic chapel, through guided informational tours.
The castle grounds extended across 26,000 square meters and contained living quarters for up to 80 people during its peak operation period.
