Burg Losenstein is a castle ruin positioned on a 60-meter limestone cliff in the Enns Valley. The site offers views across the valley and the surrounding Upper Austrian landscape.
The castle was founded in the 12th century by the Styrian Ottokar family. From 1252 to 1692, it served as the residence of the Lords of Losenstein.
The ruins display Gothic window frames and gate arches that reflect different phases of medieval construction. Walking through the walls reveals how the structure evolved across centuries.
The ruins are freely accessible throughout the year at no cost. Parking is available at Burgstraße 27 in Losenstein.
The grounds feature a designated area for campfires where families can build small fires while exploring the castle ruins. This option makes the site an unusual destination for cozy evenings in nature.
