Burg am Grazer Schloßberg

The fortification stands at 473 meters above sea level, featuring the prominent Clock Tower and Bell Tower as remaining structures of the original castle complex.

The fortress remained unconquered throughout its history until 1809 when Napoleon's forces ordered its demolition, leaving only selected structures standing after local residents paid for preservation.

The former castle grounds now function as a public park, hosting concerts and performances at the Kasemattenbühne stage built within an ancient bastion's cellar.

Visitors can reach the castle site through multiple access points, including a funicular railway, glass elevator, or by climbing 260 steps from the city center.

The Clock Tower displays an unusual configuration where the larger hand indicates hours while the smaller hand shows minutes, contrary to standard clock designs.
