Nonseum Herrnbaumgarten

Nonseum Herrnbaumgarten is a museum housed in a traditional Weinviertler barn building that displays around 250 inventions with no practical purpose. The collection features curious objects like scissors for rapid haircuts and kettles with unusual handles, each presented with the care of serious museum pieces.

The museum was established in 1994 by the Association for the Recycling of Surplus Thoughts inside a traditional barn structure. The concept emerged as an artistic reaction to typical invention showcases by collecting and displaying objects that deliberately reject practicality.

The place celebrates creativity without practical purpose, offering visitors a completely different way of thinking about inventions and design. Public art pieces scattered through the village show how humor and experimentation are woven into daily life.

The museum is located in a village setting and is best reached on foot while exploring the town. It helps to allow time for reading the information panels, as every object comes with detailed descriptions.
