Führerhauptquartier Frühlingssturm, Military command post in Mönichkirchen, Austria

The Führerhauptquartier Frühlingssturm was a mobile command post housed in railway cars positioned near Mönichkirchen in Lower Austria. The installation was constructed rapidly near the Großen Hartbergtunnel and served as a temporary operational base for military leadership.

This installation was activated in April 1941 for a brief period and served military operations during that time. After its short operational phase, it was dismantled and became only a temporary chapter in wartime history.

The command center maintained direct communication lines with Berlin and featured dedicated spaces for military strategy meetings and diplomatic receptions.

The site is difficult to reach and located in a remote area within the Austrian Alps where infrastructure is limited. Visitors should expect basic conditions when exploring the area where historical remains are still present.

The locomotives were deliberately positioned inside the tunnels so they could be rapidly relocated if air raids required a quick departure. This strategy was typical for mobile command centers that needed protection from bombing campaigns.
