Schloss Wildberg, Medieval castle in Irnfritz-Messern, Austria.
The castle stands on a rocky outcrop with two courtyards and features a four-story residential tower with thick stone walls throughout the structure.
The first mention of the castle dates to 1135 when Pilgrim de Wiltperch occupied it, marking the beginning of centuries of noble family ownership.
During the 16th century, the castle housed a printing press that produced Protestant writings, establishing itself as a center of Protestant literature in Lower Austria.
The castle remains in private ownership and access to the interior spaces requires advance arrangements through the local tourism office in Irnfritz-Messern.
The round keep measures 27 meters in height with walls 3.45 meters thick, making it one of the most substantial defensive structures in Lower Austria.
