The Spitzsteinhaus is a mountain hut located at 1,252 meters (4,100 feet) in the Chiemgau Alps with views toward Kufstein, the Inn Valley, and the Kaiser Mountains. It provides overnight accommodations and a dining area for hikers and mountaineers passing through the region.
The hut was established as a support point along historical routes in the Chiemgau region and is now a key station on the Via Alpina. Over time it became a central meeting place for mountaineers crossing the Alps.
The hut serves regional dishes on its sun-facing terrace using ingredients sourced from the surrounding valleys. Visitors can experience traditional Tyrolean cooking while dining in an open-air setting with valley views.
Access to the hut is possible through multiple routes, with the shortest walk taking about 20 minutes from the Goglalm car park. A longer alternative starts from Sachrang village and takes roughly 2 hours to reach the hut.
The location sits in an area with low avalanche risk, allowing year-round activities without the hazards common to other high mountain regions. Summer brings hiking opportunities while winter enables ski touring.
