Trisanna Bridge, Steel arch bridge in Tyrol, Austria.
Trisanna Bridge is a steel arch bridge that spans the Trisanna River and connects the municipalities of Tobadill and Strengen. It crosses about 86 meters above the Trisanna gorge and carries the Arlberg railway line.
The bridge was built in 1884 and was the longest steel arch structure in the world at that time. Over the decades it was reinforced multiple times and was completely rebuilt in 1964.
The bridge shows Austrian engineering skill and stands near Wiesberg Castle, serving as a vital crossing for people and goods moving through the Alpine region.
The bridge is visible from the train and can be observed from the railway platforms in Tobadill and Strengen. The best viewing point is from the road running through the valley, which offers a clear view of the structure.
During the 1964 reconstruction, the new arch was assembled on a temporary platform and then slid onto the existing piers in just 11 hours. This technical feat was remarkable for its time.
