Kaiserjochhaus, Mountain refuge at 2310 meters in Tyrol, Austria
The Kaiserjochhaus sits at 2310 meters (7580 feet) between the Lechtal and Arlberg regions, providing beds for about 66 guests in shared dormitory rooms. The rooms are simply furnished with mattresses and offer the essentials for spending a night high in the mountains.
The shelter was founded in 1888 by the Tyrolean tourism authorities to provide mountain travelers with a safe place to rest. In 1920 the Leutkirch Division of the German Alpine Club took over management and has continued to operate it.
The hut draws visitors from across the world who gather to share stories and experiences from their mountain journeys. It has kept a friendly, social atmosphere where regional dishes are served and guests naturally interact at shared tables.
Hikers can reach this hut on several different routes depending on their starting point and experience level. Most visitors arrive in the afternoon and should plan to spend a night if they want to continue their journey the next day.
The hut marks a significant point on the Eagle Walk, a long-distance hiking trail, where trekkers reach an important milestone in their journey. Many use this stop to gather strength before tackling the next major section of their route.
