Lackenbach Castle, Renaissance castle in Lackenbach, Austria
Lackenbach Castle is a Renaissance castle in Austria with symmetrical gardens and rare tree species throughout the grounds. The property also preserves a traditional meadow orchard planted in the 19th century.
The property was acquired in 1618 by Count Nikolaus Esterhazy and became his main residence during his time as Hungarian Viceroy. This role ended in 1628 when his position changed.
The collection of hunting rifles and historical objects displayed here spans four centuries of noble life and family traditions. The exhibition reflects how important this residence was for the household that lived there.
The castle is open Friday through Sunday, giving visitors time to explore the rooms and grounds at their own pace. The grounds also include a guest house and cafe where you can rest between visits.
The grounds contain a natural history museum showcasing animals and plants from the region. This collection lets visitors learn about the local nature alongside the castle's architecture and gardens.
