Mittersill Castle

Mittersill Castle is a stone fortification positioned on a hillside above Salzach Valley, offering views toward the Kitzbühel Alps and Hohe Tauern National Park. The building has been converted into a hotel with ten suites, a spa center, an outdoor pool, and restaurants serving regional cuisine.

The castle was founded in 1150 by the Counts of Lechsgemünd and served as an administrative center for the Archbishopric of Salzburg beginning in 1228. This role continued until the early 1800s.

The location takes its name from the surrounding mountain landscape and functions today as a hotel with dining facilities where visitors experience meals within historic rooms. The blend of medieval structures and contemporary hospitality shapes how people engage with this place.
