Mittersill Castle, Medieval castle hotel in Salzburg, Austria
The stone castle stands 140 meters above Salzach Valley with views extending across the Kitzbühel Alps and Hohe Tauern National Park.
Built in 1150 by the Counts of Lechsgemünd, the castle served as an administrative center for the Archbishopric of Salzburg from 1228 to 1806.
The castle gained recognition in 1935 when Baron Hubert von Pantz established the Sport & Shooting Club, attracting international celebrities and nobility.
The hotel features ten suites, an outdoor pool, a spa center, and restaurants serving regional cuisine prepared with local ingredients.
Fashion designer Coco Chanel created her signature jacket design during her stay at the castle in the mid-twentieth century.
