Wallfahrtskirche Hafnerberg

The Wallfahrtskirche Hafnerberg is a baroque church in Altenmarkt an der Triesting featuring marble surfaces, carved sculptures, and a prominent dome. The interior displays painted frescoes on the dome and ornamental details throughout, creating a richly decorated worship space.

A Marian column was erected here in 1653, marking an early point of devotion at this location. Construction of the current church began in 1729 under the direction of architect Daniel Christoph Dietrich, transforming the site into the baroque structure visible today.

The church sits on a pilgrimage route where walkers have journeyed for centuries to visit sacred places. Visitors today still light candles here and pause for quiet reflection, keeping the tradition of spiritual travel alive.

The church is accessible during regular services, but visits outside these times require advance arrangement by phone. Parking is available near the church, and the site is easily reached on foot from the village center.

The organ inside dates to 1767 and was built by the craftsman Anton Pfliegler, and visitors can sometimes hear it played during special events. This instrument represents a meaningful part of the musical heritage of the region and remains in working condition.
