Schloss Greißenegg

Schloss Greißenegg sits on a rocky hilltop overlooking the Kainach River, featuring spacious halls, an inner courtyard, and extensive parklands. The layout shows the typical structure of a castle with distinct areas for living quarters, celebration spaces, and grounds.

First documented mention appears in 1336, though the property was already associated with Gertrud von Babenberg around 1254 when she received it as a dowry. The castle changed hands several times and evolved from a defensive structure into the building visible today.

The wine tavern operates Friday through Sunday from mid-February through mid-December in the afternoons and evenings. Plan your visit for weekend days and keep in mind that the location closes during winter months.
