Schloss Unterach

Schloss Unterach sits on elevated terrain near Lake Attersee and displays traditional Austrian architecture with multiple defensive towers. Its structure combines living spaces with fortification elements that were renewed and adapted over time.

You can reach the castle by regional buses from Salzburg or Vöcklabruck, with the best visiting season between April and October. The pathways are easiest to navigate during peak season, and the grounds offer good views of the lake and mountains.

Inside the castle are original medieval wooden beams still preserved, with the carved signatures of the craftsmen who built it. These marks offer insight into the work of the carpenters who constructed the structure.
