Schloss Unterach sits on elevated terrain near Lake Attersee and displays traditional Austrian architecture with multiple defensive towers. Its structure combines living spaces with fortification elements that were renewed and adapted over time.

The castle originated in medieval times and changed ownership several times among different noble families. Each family brought modifications to adapt the buildings to their residential needs.

The name Lassereck comes from Wolfgang Lasser, who acquired the fishing rights on Lake Attersee in 1552; his family had a farm converted into a castle in 1628. The building is privately owned and cannot be visited, so its cultural traces are visible only from outside, such as the half-timbered upper storey of the right wing and the wooden balcony on the left wing.

Schloss Unterach, also called Lasserschlössl, stands at Klostergasse 2 in Unterach am Attersee and is privately owned, so it is not open to visitors; the building is in need of renovation. It can be seen from the public street and from the lakeshore.

The castle is privately owned and in need of major renovation, so it cannot be visited inside. Its name recalls the Lassereck family: Wolfgang Lasser acquired the fishing leases on Lake Attersee in 1552, and Friedrich Lasser had the farm converted into a castle in 1628.
