Burggrabenklamm

Burggrabenklamm is a narrow canyon in Salzburg with towering limestone walls carved by a flowing stream. The passage features natural pools and cascading drops where water has slowly worn through the rock.

This canyon was shaped during the last ice age when glacial meltwater cut deeply into the limestone bedrock. The continuous flow of water over thousands of years created the narrow passage visible today.

The canyon represents a meeting point for outdoor adventurers who gather to experience canyoning activities guided by certified local instructors.

The canyon is accessible from April through October when water levels are manageable for passage. Wear water-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear since the terrain is wet and slippery throughout.

The water flowing through this canyon stays remarkably cold year-round because it originates from high mountain springs. This persistent chill is something every visitor notices while wading through the narrow passage.
