Schloss Krippach

Schloss Krippach is a three-story manor house in Absam featuring a western tower topped with a baroque bulbous dome and seven evenly spaced window axes. The property sits within gardens that include a baroque pavilion and protective stone walls.

Hans Kripp, a duke's counselor and kitchen master, received this estate in 1454 from Cardinal Peter of Augsburg as a grant. Major earthquakes struck between 1670 and 1689, prompting a significant reconstruction in 1709 that kept most of its original character.

The chapel houses altar wing paintings by Franz Hellweger and carved wooden sculptures that reveal the artistic skills of earlier craftspeople. These artworks show how important religious life was to those who lived here.
